Indulgent Tiramisu Iced Coffee
A rich, creamy iced coffee inspired by the classic Italian dessert, featuring layers of espresso, sweet mascarpone whipped cream, cocoa and crunchy ladyfinger crumbs.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
- 1 cup (240 ml) strong brewed espresso or cold brew, chilled
- 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream, cold
- ¼ cup (60 g) mascarpone cheese, room temperature
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Ice cubes
- 2 ladyfingers, crushed into coarse crumbs
- 1–2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
- Chocolate shavings or curls, for garnish
Equipment
- Electric mixer or whisk
- Mixing bowl
- 2 tall glasses
- Fine-mesh sieve
- Spoon or piping bag
Instructions
- Prepare the coffee: Brew 1 cup of espresso or make cold brew. Let it chill in the fridge. If using, stir in the coffee liqueur once cooled.
- Crush ladyfingers: Place 2 ladyfingers in a resealable bag and gently crush with a rolling pin until you have coarse crumbs. Set aside.
- Make mascarpone whipped cream:
- In a mixing bowl, combine cold heavy cream, mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
- Using an electric mixer (or a vigorous hand-whisk), beat on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overbeat; you want a smooth, thick cream.
- Assemble the drink:
- Divide a handful of ice cubes between two tall glasses.
- Pour the chilled espresso (and liqueur, if using) over the ice, filling glasses about two-thirds full.
- Sprinkle a thin layer of ladyfinger crumbs over the coffee.
- Using a spoon or piping bag, gently layer the mascarpone whipped cream on top, filling to the rim.
- Garnish and serve:
- Dust the cream layer generously with cocoa powder using a fine-mesh sieve.
- Sprinkle remaining ladyfinger crumbs and top with chocolate shavings or curls.
- Serve immediately with a long spoon or straw to stir and enjoy the tiramisu flavor in every sip.
Tips & Variations
- For extra depth, soak ladyfinger crumbs in a teaspoon of espresso before layering.
- Swap mascarpone for cream cheese for a tangier profile.
- Add a pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top for warm spice notes.
- Turn it into a boozy treat by adding a splash of dark rum or Irish cream.
- Make it vegan by using coconut whipped cream and dairy-free cream cheese.
