  1. Preheat and prepare the pan:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

  2. Prepare the banana bread batter:
    In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using). In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla extract and mashed bananas. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

  3. Make the cream cheese filling:
    In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  4. Assemble the loaf:
    Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Carefully spoon the cream cheese mixture over the batter, spreading it evenly but leaving a small border around the edges. Pour the remaining banana bread batter on top and gently smooth the surface.
