My mom has been making these Russian tea balls for Christmas ever since I can remember! It’s just not Christmas until I make them.


 Russian Tea Balls
These delicate Russian Tea Balls are tender, buttery, and simply melt in your mouth. The chopped walnuts add a pleasant crunch, while the light sweetness of the cookie is perfectly balanced by a generous coating of powdered sugar. Also known as snowball cookies or Mexican wedding cookies, they’re a festive favorite and make wonderful gifts during the holidays thanks to the large batch this recipe yields.

Ingredients
2 cups unsalted butter, softened

4 cups all-purpose flour

4 cups chopped walnuts

1 cup granulated sugar

4 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon salt

Powdered sugar, for rolling

Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

Mix Together: Gradually add the flour mixture into the butter mixture, stirring well after each addition.

Add Nuts: Fold in the chopped walnuts evenly throughout the dough.

Shape Cookies: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 1 ½ inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for about 20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Cool and Coat: Let the cookies cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, roll each cookie generously in powdered sugar to coat.
