German Chocolate Cake


 

Introduction


This German Chocolate Cake 🍫🥥 is composed of layers of rich chocolate sponge, gooey coconut-pecan filling, and glossy chocolate ganache. Ideal for ftour, celebrations, or dessert platters 🔥.

🧂 Ingredients


🍰 Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

🥥 Filling

  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1½ cups shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

🍫 Ganache

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup heavy cream

👩‍🍳 Instructions

 

  1. 🔥 Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 23cm (9-inch) round cake pans.
  2. 🥣 Mix dry cake ingredients in one bowl. In another, whisk buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Combine both and mix until smooth.
  3. 🍰 Divide batter into pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.
  4. 🥥 For filling: cook milk, sugar, butter, and yolks over medium heat until thick. Remove from heat, stir in coconut, pecans, and vanilla. Cool.
  5. 🍫 For ganache: heat cream until simmering. Pour over chocolate. Let sit, then stir until smooth.
  6. 🎂 Assemble: layer cake with coconut filling between and on top. Drizzle ganache over top layer.
