Introduction
This German Chocolate Cake is composed of layers of rich chocolate sponge, gooey coconut-pecan filling, and glossy chocolate ganache. Ideal for ftour, celebrations, or dessert platters

Ingredients
Cake
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup cocoa powder
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Filling
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ cup butter
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1½ cups shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Ganache
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate (finely chopped)
- ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 23cm (9-inch) round cake pans.
Mix dry cake ingredients in one bowl. In another, whisk buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Combine both and mix until smooth.
Divide batter into pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.
For filling: cook milk, sugar, butter, and yolks over medium heat until thick. Remove from heat, stir in coconut, pecans, and vanilla. Cool.
For ganache: heat cream until simmering. Pour over chocolate. Let sit, then stir until smooth.
Assemble: layer cake with coconut filling between and on top. Drizzle ganache over top layer.
Methods
Use walnuts instead of pecans.
Add a spoon of date syrup to filling.
Make cupcakes instead of full cake.
Top with berries for freshness.

Despite its name, German Chocolate Cake is American , named after baker Samuel German. Now baked in Moroccan
homes with love and layered sweetness.
